The frequency needed is also lesser because Pomeranian has double coat. Grooming is something that you need to do on a regular basis. You can make Pomeranian grooming as an enjoyable time together with your lovely dog.

If you have a Pomeranian for the first time, don’t be surpise to see your dog going through some coat changes during the years. When you get a Pomeranian puppy around 2 months old, you will see that he/she has adorable full fluffy coat. In the next couple of months, when the puppy is around 5 to 6 months old, you might be shocked to see your Pomeranian looks so ugly as his/her beautiful coat is shedding. There is nothing to get worried about as it is a neutral phase where the Pomeranian puppy goes through changes towards adolescent. Their beauty will come back when they are 9-10 months old. Pomeranians will shed their coat twice a year. For the male Pomeranian, the shed might not be as much as the female. Female Pomeranian will shed lots of her coat when she gets her periods, but the coat will grow again after couple of months.

The beauty of Pomeranian coat is in most part depending on the genetical factor. However, there are some good supplements that you can add into your Pomeranian’s diet, that will help the growth of your Pomeranian coat.

Grooming Pomeranian will first require you to brush your Pomeranian coat at least 2 – 3 times in a week. You should never brush the coat when it is dry. You can damp the coat first by spraying 1 ml of contioner dissolved into water. When the coat is damp enough, you can start brushing your Pomeranian, starting from the skin out. The selection of the brush itself should be the pin brush or bristle. You should avoid using any pin brush covered with knobs at the pin’s end, because this type of brush will make the coat damaged.

If it is summer, then once every one or two weeks will be advisable. But when it comes to winter season, you can just bath your Pomeranian once a month. Bathing is very important to prevent your Pomeranian from getting any skin irritation. You also need to pay attention on the shampoo selection. The best shampoo to use is the low sudsing shampoo. It will give the best result for the double coated and harsh textured of Pomeranian coat

The next things that you need to pay attention are nails and hair trimming. Your Pomeranian’s nails must be kept short that you need to cut off the nails every 2 or 3 weeks. In order to make your Pomeranian looks elegant and beautiful, you need to trim his/her coat. If you are not sure how to trim the coat properly, you can use a prodessional grooming help. The hair in the anus area also needs to be trimmed. It is for the cleanliness reason when your Pomeranian potty or pee.
