Pomeranian Lovers, now We will write about Dog Pomeranian Breed Development. Many breeds of dogs didn’t just grow. They had to through some trial and error process to make what they are now.
Pomeranian’s ancestors were the sled dogs of the North. These dogs migrated across Northern Europe into Central Europe, where the Germans breed them.
Although they were no longer sled dogs, their double coat was retained as a household pets, because their coats were so attractive. Breeds spent much effort to improve the quality and coloration of the Pomeranian dogs coat.
Pomeranian was a pet, so that the beauty of appearance was (and is) important.
The Germans might want a smaller dog due the necessity living int he city where people didn’t have too large houses. However, these dogs were still 20 pounds and over, even after they reached England’s shores.
The British then tried to make it down size. They tried to find the smallest dogs that still had the best characteristics of the breed and mating them, so that the puppies were smaller than average.
Today, selective breeding resulted the tiny size of Pom that we have now. The process is still being continued in US.
In the Pomeranian review in September 1961, it was stated that the judges wanted smaller dogs with the trend toward shorter, blunter heads. Many disadvantages might result due to the smallness. As we might already aware, or most veterinarians will tell you, small dogs might find difficulties in reproduction. That’s why breeders have to be careful not to make such body changes that may encumber reproduction. Larger bitches are the preference of many breeders due to this reason.
From timeto time in early breeding process, breders noted some important factors. They saw that certain colors, such as blues, were hand to maintain. By experiment, the breeders found out that other colors such as cream or black breed smaller puppies rather than the white ones. They learnt that certain colors meant better or poorer coats. They developed their experiments by trial and error with the knowledge of Meridian genetic as the foundation theories.
Toy dogs are household pets, but their yapping can frighten off unwelcome intruders, though they cannot do much physical damage. They can be our companion as well as the guard in our houses. History has breed the Pomeranian into a diminutive size with its attractive coat and and an intelligent disposition. The pom can be a true companion.
